Education

  • Dr. Jason Hitkari, co-founder and co-director of Olive Fertility Centre, brings extensive expertise to the field of reproductive medicine. He serves as a clinical professor at UBC and holds the distinction of being the past-President of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) from 2020 to 2021, while also serving as a current CFAS Board Member. Dr. Hitkari completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia, where he garnered awards for clinical teaching and research. He furthered his specialization with a formal fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Recognized for his exceptional dedication to patient care, Dr. Hitkari has been honored with prestigious awards, including the UBC Medical Undergraduate Class of 2012 and Class of 2014 Outstanding Educator Awards. He is especially proud to have received the H. Hill Humanitarian award, a testament to his commitment to delivering compassionate care to his patients.
  • Dr. Nakhuda, co-founder and co-director of Olive Fertility Centre, brings a wealth of expertise to the field of reproductive medicine. With a focus on areas such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, fertility preservation, recurrent pregnancy loss, and embryology laboratory technology, Dr. Nakhuda is at the forefront of innovation in fertility care. A major focus of Dr. Nakhuda's work is preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), where he is actively involved in studying the reasons for implantation failure in apparently normal embryos. As the primary investigator in numerous clinical trials, he is dedicated to advancing research and data analysis for quality control and improvement in fertility treatments. Dr. Nakhuda's commitment to excellence and innovation underscores Olive Fertility Centre's dedication to providing the highest standard of care to patients seeking fertility solutions.
  • Dr. Niamh Tallon - MB, BCh, BAO, FRCSC: Dr. Niamh Tallon is an infertility and egg freezing specialist. Science degree in microbiology from Trinity College Dublin, medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan. She came to Vancouver to pursue a fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (GREI) at the University of British Columbia.
  • Dr. Beth Taylor - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Taylor is an infertility specialist. She is a co-founder and co-director of Olive Fertility Centre. After earning her medical degree from Dalhousie University in 1998, Dr. Taylor embarked on her journey in reproductive medicine. Moving to British Columbia, she pursued her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Following her residency, Dr. Taylor further specialized in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility through a fellowship program before joining Genesis Fertility Centre. Her extensive training and dedication to the field make her a valuable asset to the fertility community in British Columbia.
  • Dr. Al Yuzpe - MD, FRCSC: Co-founder and co-director of Olive Fertility Centre. With over 30 years of experience in IVF and more than four decades dedicated to infertility treatment, Dr. Yuzpe is recognized as Canada's most senior Reproductive Endocrinologist. He obtained his MD, M Sc., and completed his fellowship training in obstetrics and gynecology at Western University in London, Ontario. During his training, Dr. Yuzpe conducted research as a Fellow of the Medical Research Council of Canada for two years, focusing on the development and refinement of fertility-promoting drugs such as clomiphene and human gonadotropins. Dr. Yuzpe's illustrious career includes academic contributions at Western University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where he progressed to the rank of full professor.
  • Dr. Katherine Wise - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Katherine Wise embarked on her medical journey at the University of Western Ontario in London, where she completed her medical school training. Subsequently, she ventured westward to pursue her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Calgary. In 1998, Dr. Wise commenced her general Obstetrics and Gynecology practice in Kelowna, bringing her expertise and dedication to women's health to the community.
  • Dr. Shaun Tregoning - MD, FCOG(SA), FRCSC: After earning his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr. Shaun Tregoning pursued residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Cape Town, in collaboration with the Groote Schuur Hospitals teaching group. This comprehensive training program culminated in the FCOG, the exit examination of the College of Medicine in South Africa. Subsequently, Dr. Tregoning furthered his expertise by completing fellowship training in endoscopic surgery, reproductive endocrinology, and infertility. This advanced training took place at both the University of Cape Town and Stanford University, where he gained invaluable experience and honed his skills in these specialized fields.
  • Dr. James Graham - MD FRCSC: Following his graduation from Memorial University in St. John’s Newfoundland with a medical degree, Dr. Graham pursued a fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University. Influenced by mentors in the field, Dr. Graham chose to specialize in infertility and subsequently undertook a Royal College Certified Fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) at the University of British Columbia.
  • Dr. Elaine Hao - Family Physician : Dr. Hao obtained her medical degree from the University of British Columbia, where she currently serves as a Clinical Instructor. She underwent residency training in Family Medicine at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, where she now practices and teaches Primary Care Obstetrics. Dr. Hao has also provided medical care in remote communities across British Columbia and in the Northwest Territories.
  • Dr. Charles Huyser - MD, FRCS: Medical training in South Africa, earning the MBChB degree from Pretoria University in 1990. He then pursued residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa, completing additional training in the UK as Senior Registrar in OBGYN at Kingston Hospital in Surrey, London. Additionally, he underwent fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.
  • Dr. Jill Griffiths - MD, FRCS: She earned her Bachelor of Medical Science Degree with a Minor in Music from the University of Alberta. Subsequently, she completed Medical School at the U of A in 2001, followed by a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006.
  • Dr. Kim Daniel - MD, FRCS: Dr. Kim Daniel completed her medical school at the University of Calgary in 2002. Subsequently, she pursued her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University in 2007. She completed her medical school at the University of Calgary in 2002. Subsequently, she pursued her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University in 2007.
  • Dr. Areiyu Zhang - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Zhang obtained her medical degree from the University of Calgary, followed by residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia. She then completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa. Additionally, Dr. Zhang is a registered sonographer in obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Dr. Bonnie Woolnough - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Woolnough earned her medical degree from the University of British Columbia before completing her residency training at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She subsequently pursued a fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Woolnough is also a registered sonographer in obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Dr. Ginevra Mills - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Mills holds a Master of Science in Cellular and Microbiology Biology from the University of Calgary. Following this, she earned her undergraduate medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alberta, followed by a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at McGill University. Dr. Mills is doubly certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
  • Dr. Kristy Cho - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Kristy Cho is a gynecologist and fertility specialist. Raised in Hong Kong and Chilliwack, she pursued her undergraduate medical education at the University of British Columbia. Following medical school and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Cho pursued an additional Royal College-accredited fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
  • Dr. Mohamed Bedaiwy - MD, FRCSC: Dr. Bedaiwy received his medical degree from Assiut University School of Medicine, Egypt, where he graduated Valedictorian, summa cum laude. He completed his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University Hospital Case Medical Center, CWRU, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He then went on to complete a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and a Fellowship in Reproductive Sciences, University of Toronto. Dr Bedaiwy obtained a PhD from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands for his work on ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation.
  • Dr. Glenn Benoit - MD, FRSC: Dr. Benoit attended medical school and fulfilled his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Manitoba. As a Clinical Associate Professor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine, he is dedicated to teaching both locally and in developing regions.
