About Our Practice

Dr. Dimitrios Motakis’s practice is presently located at 199 Avenue Road, a nationally accredited facility with state-of-the-art surgical suites and overnight rooms. Here his patients have access to advanced technologies and monitoring devices, as well as overnight facilities staffed with registered nurses for impeccable care. Although Dr. Motakis’s surgery is performed in a private facility, he also holds privileges at the Lakeridge Health Centre.

About Dr. Dimitrios Motakis

Education

Dr. Dimitrios Motakis is a graduate of McGill University, where he completed his medical degree (MD), his doctorate in medical research (PhD), as well as his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Motakis is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). After completing his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he decided to further sub-specialize. He completed a fellowship in aesthetic surgery, training in the latest surgical and non-surgical techniques in cosmetic surgery and facial rejuvenation. He subsequently completed a second fellowship in breast reconstruction, gaining expertise in correcting the most complex and challenging breast deformities. Over the years, Dr. Motakis has trained with many prominent plastic surgeons and has performed the latest techniques in plastic surgery, especially in the areas of breast reconstruction and cosmetic plastic surgery.

Awards & Achievements

Dr. Motakis has dedicated a significant amount of the last seventeen years in medical research. His scientific contributions span areas of medicine outside, as well as within plastic surgery, such as craniofacial and aesthetic surgery. He has received several honors and awards including the Medical Research Council of Canada (MRC) Doctoral Research Scholarship for four consecutive years. Most recently, during his fellowship he coauthored two chapters on the latest concepts in facial rejuvenation with dermal fillers. These are part of the two leading textbooks in plastic and aesthetic surgery in the world. He has given several presentations and has lectured to professionals at the international level. He has also published numerous articles in peer-review journals and magazines. Dr. Motakis is also actively engaged as an instructor and lecturer for the Plastic Surgery Resident Aesthetic Surgery Program with the University of Toronto.
