Meet the Coopers - Husband and wife plastic surgeons Dr Jim Cooper and Dr Alex Cooper are excited to welcome clients to their new clinic. Whether reconstructing deformities post-cancer or helping patients achieve desired cosmetic results, Dr. Alex combines exceptional technical skills with a patient-centered approach. Her goal is to deliver natural results that make patients feel more comfortable in their own skin, making mommy makeovers one of her specialties. Dr. Jim, a highly skilled facial plastic surgeon with fellowship training, brings years of experience as the sole craniofacial plastic surgeon in a busy trauma hospital. His friendly, interactive, and open communication style ensures a collaborative approach with his patients, aiming for the best possible outcomes. Experience the expertise of Dr. Alex and Dr. Jim for both aesthetic and reconstructive needs.
Education
- Dr. Alex : Started medical degree at prestigious St. Andrews University in Scotland and was awarded a full scholarship. After 3 years at St. Andrews, Dr. Alex moved to the University of Edinburgh to complete her degree.
- Plastic Surgery residency at McMaster University - as one of only 2 international medical graduates to obtain positions within Canada.
- Dr. Alex also completed a 1-year fellowship in Breast Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery.
- Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- Dr. Jim: Medical degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland
- Graduate from the McMaster University Plastic Surgery program (where he met Dr. Alex!)
- Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- Fellowship degree in maxillofacial surgery at McMaster

Awards & Achievements
- Throughout her training, Dr. Alex received numerous awards for her outstanding clinical research and was recognized for her exceptional surgical skills.
- Dr Jim was recruited to work as a staff plastic surgeon at Ontario’s second busiest trauma hospital, the Hamilton General Hospital. He also worked as a busy educator to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students as an Assistant Professor at McMaster University and was appointed clinical teaching unit director for the Hamilton General Hospital.
- Dr Jim was appointed as one of Ontario’s two Burn Unit Directors in 2016, where he has spearheaded the development of standardized guidelines for burn management and has been involved in international burn research.
