Education
- Dr. Sharma's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary, followed by his medical degree from the same institution. He underwent rigorous plastic and reconstructive surgery residency training in Calgary, renowned as one of Canada's leading training centers.
- During his residency, Dr. Sharma gained extensive experience across various domains including breast surgery, maxillofacial trauma, burns, skin cancer treatment, hand surgery, breast reconstruction, head & neck cancer reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, microsurgery, and pediatric plastic surgery.
- Dr. Sharma achieved certification by successfully completing the Royal College examinations in Plastic Surgery, earning him the prestigious title of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
- Subsequently, Dr. Sharma pursued advanced fellowship training in microsurgery and breast reconstruction at New York University (NYU) in Manhattan, renowned globally for its excellence in plastic surgery. As the first Canadian-trained plastic surgeon to undertake a microsurgery fellowship at NYU, he had the opportunity to collaborate with pioneers in the field.
- During his time in New York City, Dr. Sharma contributed to groundbreaking surgical procedures, including participation in the world's most extensive full face transplant. Additionally, he furthered his education by completing a Masters of Education in Health Professions degree at Johns Hopkins University, known for its top-ranked School of Education.
