What is it?
A bright white smile can be the very best accessory, and of all the methods for enhancing a smile, laser whitening is the fastest and least invasive method to improve your pearly whites. Whether you know it or not, your smile is a sign of youth and health, and is often the first thing people notice about you.
Whitening options
At-home-whitening. If you find yourself unsatisfied with the color of your teeth, but may not be able to afford the more pricey professional tooth whitening treatments, there are numerous at-home options. At-home kits make for an easy to use solution for surface tooth staining- just stick them on and wait for the recommended time. As far as at-home tooth whitening goes, strips that stick to your teeth can seam like a super-convenient way to a gleaming smile. The solution can usually lighten teeth up to two shades, but the trouble with strips is that while they do offer good coverage in some areas, they do not mold to your teeth. The nooks and crannies of your teeth may not get the same benefits as the flat surfaces, which could lead to a whiter smile in some spots and more contrasting dinginess in others.
Laser whitening. Your doctor will begin by opening your mouth wide and applying a protective material like bees wax, aloe vera gel or other protective covering to your gums, lips, and soft tissues in the mouth. This will help isolate the teeth and help prevent any damage to the tissues. A special gel solution containing hydrogen peroxide is applied to the teeth, and the laser is then directed at the teeth and concentrated on the hard to remove stains. The laser activates the gel to release oxygen molecules, which penetrate the tooth’s enamel and removes most staining. In the case of single discoloured teeth due to trauma or root canal, the bleaching solution can be placed inside and outside the tooth.
