What is it?
There are several solutions to fix a sagging or otherwise fleshy neck. Even though your neck can age before your face, Father Time is not always responsible for that appearance you’d like to undo. If you’ve lost a lot of weight, your neck may be taking its time to catch up. For others, your genes may be responsible. Whatever the reason, people young and old undergo neck lift procedures all the time.
A neck lift is a set of procedures used to enhance the appearance of your neck. Cervicoplasty is the procedure used to remove excess skin. Platysmaplasty removes or alters neck muscle. Your surgeon also can perform neck liposuction, which removes excess fat. In some cases, Botox injections may be the answer to your problems if you have fullness or "bands."
In the basic procedure, incisions are made inside the hairline at the temple, running in front of the ear then around the earlobe and behind the ear, ending in the hair of the scalp. Loose skin is separated from the underlying tissue and is pulled up and back and excess skin is removed. Connective tissue and sagging muscles are tightened, and in some cases, fat deposits are removed from beneath the chin and neck. This may necessitate an additional small incision under the chin. Tiny sutures are used to close the incisions.
